Visit YAGP.orgThe Maple Conservatory of Dance is proud to announce that Conservatory student Steven Morse tied for the bronze medal in the Senior Men's division at the Youth America Grand Prix Finals, which took place at City Center in New York City in April.

Sixty-two male dancers from around the world qualified for the finals in the Senior Men's division, including Russia, Brazil, Japan, China, Australia, United Kingdom, Romania, Italy, Korea and other countries, as well as from cities throughout the U.S. Steven was the only dancer from the U.S. to place in the top three in the Senior Men's division. (The other Senior Men's winners were Nobert Lucaszewski from The John Cranko School at Stuttgart Ballet in Germany, Vadim Muntagirov and Benjamin Ella from The Royal Ballet School in the UK, and Jorge Dos Santos from Grupo Cadência in Brazil.)

Only 20 dancers in each division (Pre-Competitive, Junior Men & Women, Senior Men & Women) are chosen by the judges to advance to the final round. Steven performed a contemporary piece choreographed by faculty member William Lu and a variation from Swan Lake for his classical entry.

The Maple Conservatory faculty & staff congratulates Steven on his wonderful achievement, as well as our other Conservatory students who qualified for the YAGP finals!

(We also congratulate Steven on being named Grand Prize Finalist in the Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Awards in which he performed last April with other finalists in a special performance at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.)

The Maple Conservatory would like to thank the following faculty members who helped Steven and our other students prepare for this wonderful opportunity: Gilma Bustillo, Alicia Head, William Lu, Charles Maple, Chris Martin and Shawn Stevens.
