Classes & Programs Overview

The Maple Conservatory offers a program designed to take students from their first introduction to the art of dance, through a full course of ballet study.

Enrollment applications for our 2011-12 Conservatory program are now being accepted.  Enrollment application forms must be turned in by June 15th for all new & existing students.  Applications received after June 15th will be reviewed on a space-available basis. Our Conservatory fall term classes begins on Tuesday, September 6th.  Learn more our Conservatory Program

Our Conservatory offers dance training for the most serious students who are interested in pursuing a career in dance. However, students whose paths lead to non-dance careers still gain immeasurably from our program by developing self-motivation, self-discipline, poise, grace, physical adroitness and a life-long appreciation for the arts.

Our Conservatory consists of four divisions:

  • Creative/Pre-Ballet Elementary Division (Ages 2-8)
  • Classical Dance Division (Ages 7-20)
  • Professional Dance Division (Ages 13-20)
  • Open Dance Division (Ages 10-18)

We also offer open/drop-in classes in Ballet Technique, Pointe and Modern for adults and teens ages 13 & older.

The Conservatory begins accepting students from ages three through eight for our Creative/Pre-Ballet Elementary Division. This division consists of two levels: Creative Movement (ages 2-4) and Pre-Ballet (ages 4-8). These two levels lay the foundation for further study of classical ballet.

Beginning at age 7 or 8 the students may follow a structured sequence of training stages designed to increase their technical skills, stamina and discipline in accordance with their age and physical development in our Classical Dance Division. Students take classes in ballet technique, pointe and variations at the appropriate level of development and conditioning.

At the appropriate level of maturity and stamina, students have the opportunity to seek an intense level of study in our Professional Dance Division. Students wishing to enter this division may audition at the age 13. For the Maple Youth Ballet Senior Company it is suggested that the dancer have a minimum of seven years of classical ballet training and three years of pointe work for females. For the Maple Youth Ballet Junior Company, it is suggested that the dancer has a minimum of five years of training and more than one full year of pointe work for females.

We also offer a Open Dance Division for dancers ages 10-18. This division is designed for those dancers who love to dance but cannot commit to the attendance requirements of our Classical or Professional Dance Divisions
