Our Conservatory Tuition

The Maple Conservatory of Dance is committed to providing Orange County and the surrounding communities with a ballet conservatory of the highest standards, featuring an internationally renowned dance faculty. Our 13,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility is one of the largest dance facilities in Southern California. With this in mind, we've designed our tuition to keep our rates affordable for our Conservatory families, while supporting a high-quality Conservatory program.

2007-08 Conservatory Tuition

Below is our Conservatory tuition rate for 2007-08. Our Conservatory tuition is based on the number of classes taken per week, as defined by our Conservatory program. Note that our Conservatory tuition is paid on a monthly basis or per class term, and therefore, the fees below are an approximate hourly rate.

Our Conservatory Tuition Policy: Along with our stated tuition rates below, please also view our Conservatory Tuition Policies (pdf), which covers our registration fees, family discounts, late fees, refunds and make-up classes.

Note: We also offer an Open Class schedule, which is open to the entire community. View our Open Class class card fees and single-class, drop-in rates.

Creative Movement. Pre-Ballet and Primary Ballet Classes

We offer Creative Movement classes for ages 3 & 4, Pre-Ballet classes for ages 4-7 and Primary Ballet classes for ages 6-8. View more information on our Creative/Pre-Ballet Elementary Division.

Notes On Our Dance Training Philosophy

We designed our tuition to keep our rates affordable for our Conservatory families, while at the same time to support a carefully, thought out dance training philosophy:

We Do Not Sacrifice Class Time For Rehearsals

We rarely use class time for rehearsing. Our Maple Conservatory staff & faculty do not believe in sacrificing class time — which is reserved for learning & improving dance technique — for memorizing dance routines and rehearsing for upcoming performances. Rehearsals for upcoming performances are almost always scheduled outside of regular class time.

Private Lessons Are An Option — Not A Requirement

Private lessons are an option at the Maple Conservatory and are not a standard part of our dance training program. Private lessons are usually only arranged for a student's need to work on a specific issue with technique. Private lessons at the Maple Conservatory are outcome-based and are usually short-term. Our feeling is that with our Conservatory's strong dance curriculum and excellent faculty, our students will receive the highest level of training in the classroom, thus, making the expense of ongoing, continuous private lessons unnecessary.

We Are Not A "Competition School"

The Maple Conservatory does not coach competition dance teams. Conservatory students who wish to compete as individuals are not discouraged from doing so. However, the emphasis at our Conservatory is on dance training and performing in a supportive atmosphere, which nurtures confidence as well as individual success, and not on preparing for competitions. For our students who wish to work individually with our dance faculty and participate in a competition (such as the Los Angeles Music Center's Spotlight Awards), private coaching is available at a reasonable rate.
